Young Professional, 2nd year Kinesiology major @ University of Tennessee Knoxville, and maybe a future Medical Doctor if she chooses!
Binal knew she wanted to head to medical school at a young age – her parents, being entrepreneurs and store owners in the Chattanooga TN area, encouraged her to go after her dreams! Pediatrics is where she hopes to specialize upon entering an MD program; and following in her entrepreneurial heritage (and inspired by her love for children), she plans on opening her own Pediatric Practice sometime after Medical School.
Her strategy of entering Med School through the track of Kinesiology might have spawned from a high school athletics career as a track athlete -running the 400m and 800m sprints.
Currently, Binal is looking for international internships related to her field – she hopes to plant her feet somewhere in Southern Europe this coming summer (c’mon AAANA family let’s get on the phone and make this happen if you have any Euro contacts!). Last summer, she shadowed a pediatrician and was very well received by the hospital staff.
In her fleeting spare time, Binal is a member of the University’s Mayuri Dance Team, a Board Member of the Indian American Association (@UTKnoxville), and she works part-time at a women’s boutique – talk about a busy schedule!
We @AAANA Leadership would like to give a special thanks to Binal for allowing us to feature her in this month’s issue, and to all those that read this newsletter – we love you all!
