Stories of Bravery and Heroism:

Anjanas are naturally warlike and aggressive in battle, and possess qualities like courage, loyalty, self sufficiency, physical strenght, resiliency, fighting tenacity, and military strategy.

There are nemurous undocumented episodes on bravery of Anjanas. Also, women fought alongside of their men. Land of North Gujarat and Rajasthan is strewn with memorial stones marking the deaths of brave Anjanas. Here are two well known stories.

1) In the Limbodara village near Mansa, there is the memorial stone in the remembrance of Sati Nanbai. She fought a battle with adversaries and slaughtered 18 foes before she succumbed to her wounds. Today, people worship her shrine with faith and devotion.

2) Vadnagar was sacked and looted by Maratha Peshwas 3 times. Very first unsucessful attack was by Maratha commander Kanaji Kadam Bande in AD 1726. Anjanas from nearby Rajpur Vad were the first responders against the invasion.

We, on behalf of AAANA, pay tribute to our beloved members who
passed away in the last couple of years.
May God rest their souls in eternal peace.
